NEW RED SEVEN BY WOLFGANG PUCK RESTAURANT OPENS RIBBON-CUTTING JUNE 19 AT PACIFIC DESIGN CENTER

World-Renowned Restaurateur Wolfgang Puck and Visionary Developer Charles S. Cohen Create Fabulous Cuisine and Location

(West Hollywood, CA – June 12, 2007) – Red Seven by Wolfgang Puck, a new restaurant by L.A.’s most admired celebrity chef is opening on June 19th, 2007 at the vibrant Pacific Design Center (PDC).

Red Seven by Wolfgang Puck represents something of a homecoming for Mr. Puck, as West Hollywood was the location of his first restaurant, the original Spago. The name Red Seven conjures many associations for Wolfgang. “It is my seventh restaurant to open in L.A. Seven is a lucky number, and it’s the year 2007 that Red Seven is opening,” he said. The color red, of traditional significance in Asian cultures, also relates to the vivid new, much anticipated, red-glass RedBuilding.

Charles S. Cohen, president and owner of PDC, and Wolfgang Puck have been working together successfully for the past few years at PDC. Red Seven is the second restaurant at PDC by Wolfgang Puck and their catering division has developed PDC’s food service and catering programs with Wolfgang Puck partner and CEO, Carl Schuster. Wolfgang Puck Catering, which has catered the Academy Awards® and Governor’s Ball for the past 12 years, has a reputation as the nation’s leading premium catering company, with headquarters in L.A. and regional bases from coast to coast.

Charles S. Cohen sees Red Seven by Wolfgang Puck as a perfect fit with his vision for the brilliantly colored, landmark PDC complex, designed by international master architect Cesar Pelli. “The designer of Red Seven, Martin Vahtra, took his inspiration from the wealth of art and design filling PDC’s design showrooms, and the flavor of its creative location is woven through every aspect of the Red Seven concept,” said Cohen. “Red Seven will create buzz and visibility as the restaurant of choice for the creative professionals, entertainment industry players and image-conscious firms who are PDC existing clientele and future tenants of the RedBuilding,” he added.

Nominated for the prestigious James Beard Award for Best Restaurant Design, Martin Vahtra is a founder and principal of PROJECTS, an architectural and interior design firm that brings the utmost in multi-dimensional creativity and innovation to every project. Martin Vahtra was a senior designer with Adam Tihany International, and was responsible for many of that firm’s most important hospitality projects.  Martin is currently working on Lettuce Entertain You in Chicago, nightclubs for JayZ in Las Vegas, a restaurant for Wolfgang Puck in LaJolla California and a new restaurant L’Espelier in Boston.  Mr. Vahtra’s PROJECTS design practice wields balance, proportion, harmony and massing to create a sense of wellbeing and delight in the end user.

Like Wolfgang Puck’s other fine-dining locales—including Spago, Chinois, CUT, Postrio, Trattoria del Lupo and Vert—Red Seven has its own signature identity. “The Asian-influenced menu will feature fresh, locally produced, in-season ingredients, carefully selected from Southern California purveyors,” said Wolfgang Puck. “We are combining our region’s natural abundance with seafood, authentic Asian spices, and imported ingredients to create unique, Red Seven dishes and specialties.”

Wolfgang Puck has assembled a talented team to attune both cuisine and ambiance to the creative energy and rhythm of PDC. His executive award-winning Chef, Lee Hefter, led the creation and development of the concept for Red Seven by Wolfgang Puck, and maintains the vision of continuing, legendary innovation and culinary quality first created by Wolfgang Puck at Spago more than 20 years ago.

The Chef de Cuisine at the restaurant is Yoshinori Kojima.  Since coming to the states from Hayama, Japan, Yoshinori has earned a name for himself at restaurants all throughout California. Now, as the Executive Chef of Pacific Design Center, Chef Yoshinori plays a significant role in the opening of Red Seven by Wolfgang Puck, where he will oversee the creation of the lunch, dinner and catering menu. Chef Yoshinori maintains a unique and commendable approach to the way he treats ingredients. “When I use any seafood, vegetable or animal to make any meal, I respect it. I have to use much as I can, because this ingredient is coming from nature.” This respect and care is transposed into each and every created dish at PDC.  Both of these accomplished chefs will make Red Seven by Wolfgang Puck the see-and-be-seen locus in hip West Hollywood.
