PACIFIC DESIGN CENTER PRESENTS
WESTWEEK DesignForum 2008: Hollywood Glamour, MARCH 26-27, 2008
Student Day March 28, 2008
West Hollywood, California (March 12, 2008) – Pacific Design
Center (PDC), a Cohen Design Centers property, and the West
Coast’s leading resource for interior design trades, in
exclusive media partnership with Architectural Digest magazine,
present WESTWEEK DesignForum 2008: HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR; Wednesday,
March 26 and Thursday, March 27, 2008. An
internationally-recognized trade event, WESTWEEK welcomes
thousands of design professionals and trade journalists each
spring. PDC follows this industry standard event with Student
Day on Friday, March 28, designed in partnership with
Architectural Digest, ASID/Los Angeles and area design colleges
and universities.
Over 100 WESTWEEK 2008 showroom programs will focus on new
product showcases, trends and design elements. PDC showrooms and
industry institutions will offer presentations, individual
special events, demonstrations and book signings such as:
• Architectural Digest Keynote Panels featuring editor-in-chief
Paige Rense, writer Nancy Collins, designers Stephen Shadley and
Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, photographer Harry Benson, and
architecture giant Robert A.M. Stern.
• American Institute of Architects (AIA) featuring four special
seminars in PDC’s Conference Center individually hosted by:
Julie D. Taylor, Hon. AIA/LA, principal of Taylor & Company,
Johannes Van Tilburg, FAIA, Simona Mainini/Dr. Arch., and Robert
Mankin, AIA and Scott Hunter, AIA.
• Kneedler ׀ Fauchère presenting an Enduring Design seminar with
Jack Lenor Larson, Kazumi Yoshida, Suzanne Tucker and David
Easton.
• H. L Hinson & Co. presents: Global Influence with Patrick Frey
of Pierre Frey examining the origins of some of the most classic
French styles and how he reinterprets them for today’s living.
• Book Signings with Paige Rense, Julius Schulman, Lulu de
Kwiatkowksi, Kathryn M. Ireland, and J. Jonathan Joseph and
Peter Schifando.
When not attending a myriad of programs and presentations,
attendees will have the opportunity to take part in
Architectural Digest’s “Open Auditions” and to experience over
12 temporary exhibits brought in specifically for WESTWEEK 2008.
• Open Auditions: Architectural Digest offers designers a rare
opportunity to appear in the pages of the magazine by inviting
professionals and non-professionals to bring photos of their
completed residential projects on Wednesday and Thursday for
review by editor-in-chief Paige Rense and senior editorial

• Inside Architecture: Selections from the Permanent Collection
organized by MOCA Curator of Architecture and Design, Brooke
Hodge for MOCA Pacific Design Center (The Museum of Contemporary
Art). The exhibit explores artists’ ongoing fascination with
interior spaces through drawings, paintings and photographs.
• Through His Lens: Harry Benson’s Portraits of Our World is a
first ever LA exhibit by Scottish-born photojournalist Harry
Benson and sponsored by Architectural Digest. The installation
features over 60 iconic images including the Beatles, Martin
Luther King, Robert Francis Kennedy, Benazir Butto, Greta Garbo,
Princess Diana, Mick Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor and Truman Capote,
to name just a few.
• The Architectural Digest Greenroom at the Oscars®, where the
stars relax before entering the spotlight and produced
exclusively by the magazine for the past six years, comes to PDC
for a short engagement. This luxurious sanctuary imagined and
created by “AD 100” designer Carleton Varney, is a once in a
lifetime experience for many.
• Art and Photography: Jim McHugh, Gary Brown and the LA
Artist’s Showcase all bring their unique visions to life in
three independent exhibits.
• ASID/LA’s Third Annual Green Gallery will showcase sustainable
design, furniture, methods and building products available from
PDC showrooms.
• Chairing Styles, by the Fashion Institute of Design and
Merchandising (FIDM), features original textile designs, chairs
and coordinating gowns, created by interdisciplinary student
teams in the fields of Textile, Fashion and Interior Design.
• AIA/LA Annual Exhibit 2x8: SKIN showcases exemplary student
work from architecture and design institutions throughout
California.
Fourteen years of celebration and tradition continues with
Pacific Designer Center’s annual Stars of Design Awards taking
place on the opening evening of WESTWEEK, Wednesday, March 26th
at 5:30 PM. This long-standing prestigious honor recognizes
eight Southern California design professionals who have made a
significant contribution in their respective areas of design and
design related fields. These Stars are chosen by the industry’s
leading critics. This year’s honorees are:

WESTWEEK DesignForum 2008: HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR marks the third of
four Markets sponsored by the Cohen Design Centers’ four sister
properties and Architectural Digest partnership. Past
co-sponsored market events were held at the Decoration & Design
Building (NYC) and the Decorative Center of the Americas
(Southeastern Florida). The fourth and final market of this year
takes place May 6, 2008 in Houston, TX at the Design Center of
Houston.
